Kids Consignment Sales - A Whole Lotta Fun!!

I have been saving kids clothes, Matt and my clothes, household items, etc. to have a garage sale. Due to our slightly busy schedules and Matt having weddings each Saturday I'm finding it hard to get a date on the calendar to have a sale. Therefore...the items have been piling up! I do enjoy donating clothing items but am also realistic to know that selling items is helpful for our pocket book as our kids continue to outgrow clothes and need new clothes.

This past week, I found a little saving grace to get rid of some of our kids items in a way that I could also replenish some of the funds to buy winter clothing items for the kids. I became a consignor for the Munchkin Markets! It is seasonal kids consignment event where you can register to sell items. It is so easy...I signed in, entered my items and the prices I wanted for them, printed my tags, and delivered the items to be sold! You can enter to discount your items on the last day and if you don't want to pick them up again, you can donate them at the end of the weekend. The bonus is that you make 70% of your sales or even 80% if you volunteer to work at the sale! Also, as a consignor you can shop the pre-sale.

I consigned at the State Fair grounds this past weekend and one entire building was full of toys, books, coats, boots/shoes, baby items, and tons of kids clothes. I was able to pick up some new fall/winter items for our kids and had a blast just looking at all the items.

There is another consignment sale this week called Just Between Friends in Edina. Not sure if I'll get to this sale but at any rate would highly recommend it!

Fall Flooding 2010

It has been a crazy couple of days in Minnesota. Heavy rains have brought in over 8 inches in about 24 hours. Roads are shut down all over and schools were released early today. Some schools have already canceled or called in for 2 hours late tomorrow already. After having a great growing season for crops this year it is extremely sad to see so many fields destroyed under water.

Here are a few photos of the area around us...

Precious Time with Cameron and Emmy

It was the first Saturday in a long time that I did not have something on my calendar to do! It was awesome! Matt had a wedding in Wisconsin so he was out the door by 7:00am. I was able to sneak in a long run before he headed out so I was up and at em' early before the kids were out of bed. It was a perfect weather day with lots of sunshine so we were bound to be outside!

It was pretty much a toss up of what we could have done but I knew if we just stayed home, I would get lost in the piles of laundry that have been building since the state fair! Lucky for us, it is the "Defeat of Jesse James Days" in Northfield this weekend which means lots of fun just 20 minutes down the road! Craft sale, carnival, kiddie parade, food vendors, city wide garage sale, rodeo, car show, etc. We didn't do all of this but we did get to the craft show, food vendors, and played at a few parks around town.

It was just fun to be with my kiddos enjoying the day with no where else to be! They are growing up so fast and Emmy will be 2 in less than a month. This time is really precious and I love that we are going into a slower time for work so we can have more days to just play!

Photos from the day...

I love that we can put pigtails in Emmy's hair now! This was her favorite part of the park today!
We forgot our double stroller at a friends house so we improvised today and Cameron enjoyed his little seat on the front of the stroller!
Everyone was wearing cowboy boots and hats so we had to join the crowd. $4.00 well spent!!
Last stop at the park before we headed home...
