Cameron's Birthday Party

Had a great time with family last night for Cameron's 3rd b-day party. A few weeks ago, Cameron announced that he wanted a Goofy/Mickey party so I bought Mickey Mouse napkins, plate, etc. A week ago, he decided he wanted a baseball party. So we ended up making a baseball cake and using the mickey plates and napkins :) Little details that are no big deal but it made me realize that he is old enough to choose what kind of party to have. He is getting so big and growing up really fast. Here are some pictures from our fun evening...

Cameron is 3 Today!

Cameron - Three years have gone way too fast and it has been pure joy to watch you grow. You are one smart little cookie and it so fun to hear what you'll say next. You have a big heart and caring nature about you and at times you wear your emotions on your sleeve. Your smile can always melt my heart and light up the room. We have loved seeing you develop your passions and skills. You love to play your drums, sing "Blessed Be the Name", play baseball, be outside and go for hikes with daddy and The possibilities are endless for what you can do and be in the future! We pray that God will continue to bless you this year and in those to come. We pray that you will continue to love and serve Jesus and always keep him in your life. Daddy and I love you so much! Happy Birthday!

Today we headed to the Minnesota Zoo to celebrate Cameron's 3rd birthday. We were fortunate to have G'ma Deb, Jess and Peyton, and Lindsay and Wyatt join us for a fun day. Because of the rain we were limited to the indoor animal exhibits but we it didn't squash our fun. Cameron's favorite animals were the tapir and baby chicks. The monkeys, dolphins, fish aquarium and flamingos were also a hit. We also enjoyed cupcakes together after our lunch.

Emmy is 18 Months!

Little Girls
Author: Karen Barnes
Little girls are made of daisies and butterflies and soft kitty cat purrs
And all the precious memories of times that once were.
Little girls are made of angel's wings and giggles and a firefly's glow
And all the happy feelings, deep inside, that we all know.
Little girls are made of cinnamon and bubbles and fancy white pearls
And snowflakes and rainbows and ballerina twirls.
Little girls are made of sunshine and cupcakes and fresh morning dew,
And these are the reasons, little one, why everyone loves you.

Emmy is 18 months old today! Time has just gone too fast and she is changing constantly. We've got her 18-month check up on Wednesday so I'll fill in more details then.

We love you Emmy...you are a shining light and a huge blessing in our life!

Weekend/Easter Fun!

Have to mention that Cameron and Matt had the chance to go to the Twins game over the weekend to watch Cameron's buddy Kevin Slowey pitch. The guys had a blast at the game while Emmy and I had a little girl time around our house and a few quick errands. I believe this will be a trend in the future as the kids get older...guy outings and gal outings! Check out Matt's blog to see some of the great pictures he got from the game...click here

I know that my Redeemer lives;
What comfort this sweet sentence gives!
He lives, He lives, who once was dead;
He lives, my ever living Head.
- Samuel Medley

These are the words of one of my favorite Easter hymns. This is what Easter is really all about. The triumph of our risen Savior!! Easter 2010....what a beautiful, sunny, warm and wonderful day! I must say it was a bit busy but we had a great day with church friends and family.

Our morning at True North included Easter breakfast, an Easter egg hunt, and a joyful worship service with lots of help from the kids of our church. The preschoolers (Cameron's class) sang "Jesus is the Lamb of God" all wearing lamb ears that they made in class. Cameron is never too shy to sing when he is around people he knows but when put in front of a crowd, he freezes! It took some coaxing and bribing but he finally got up in front of everyone. He didn't sing much but instead was the kid that was picking his nose! We were so proud!! :)We headed to the farm to have Easter dinner with the family. It was a full house with my dad's siblings and cousins. Cameron, Emmy, Wyatt and Peyton were all somewhat matching in their Easter outfits so it was fun to grab some pictures of them. They were all pretty happy as they had their fill of chocolate bunnies, jelly beans and their absolute favorite PEZ!! G'ma Deb and G'pa Don spoiled the grandkids again and it was just like Christmas!! Here are a few pictures of the Schliep grandkids...

Next we headed to Rochester to hang with Matt's family. What fun it is with all of these little ones in the family...it gets better and better! We played outside blowing bubbles, sliding and riding around in g'ma Carol's cars. We got a little concerned when we couldn't find all of the Easter eggs that were hidden in the house but before we all left last night they were all found again. Here are a few pictures from our time with the Addington cousins. You can see that by the time we were taking the pictures they were running a little low on smiles and energy!

This Week...

This week for us looked like the following:

Tuesday - Another crash with the car....another gal and I backed out of our parking spots at the same time!

Wednesday - The kids and I spent the day at my moms with Jess, Lindsay, Peyton and Wyatt coloring Easter eggs and playing outside. It was such a warm and beautiful day and we had a blast all being together!
Thanks to my mom watching the kids, Matt and I also had a chance to go to the Timberwolves game with Mat and Shannon Schaeffer. Matt was asked to speak with the announcer on the radio so we were able to get great seats for free. They actually won that night breaking a 16-game losing streak against the Kings. Check out our tickets...notice the cost of them in the upper left hand corner (You're not seeing it wrong...they were actually $450.00!!). The players were pretty much within reach of us...it was pretty awesome considering it was an NBA game!

Thursday - It was another warm and beautiful day so we were able to play a lot outside and get some yard work done as well. We were all home together that night and had a meal together...it is a big deal as we don't get to sit down together every night as a family!

Friday - Matt had the day off but I had to work so the kids and him had a nice morning playing together. My work schedule is beginning to pick up again as we get closer to the State FFA Convention and summer camps. Good Friday in Kenyon also means Good Friday Basketball. Matt played in the annual tournament with some neighbors and friends. The guys also played some poker afterward....I think I saw 2:30 am on the clock when Matt got into bed!!

It was a great and busy week. This was a special week as it is holy week. Recognizing Jesus death and resurrection is a pretty powerful thing. Even though it seems like we are celebrating a day with bunny's, chicks, and baskets filled with candy, Easter it is about so much more. The excitement and triumph of Jesus resurrection is what fills Easter with it's happiness and joy! Hope you have a Happy Easter! +
